a recital at Mt. Vernon
George Washington loved music, and in 1793 he purchased a highly intricate harpsichord from London for his granddaughter, Eleanor “Nelly” Custis. Over the last several years Mount Vernon has been lovingly creating a replica of this instrument; Wolf Trap Opera artists will help to celebrate its completion in a recital of popular music from the time period.
