In 2018, Wolf Trap welcomes artistic staff and faculty from The Metropolitan Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Washington National Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and dozens of other companies from across the U.S. and around the world.

Kim WitmanWolf Trap Opera’s Kim Witman

Witman has directed WTO since 1997. She is well known in the field for fostering emerging talent and leading an artistic team that creates refreshing new interpretations of both traditional and contemporary works. She has cast and produced over 70 operas ranging from rare baroque gems to commissioned world premieres. Under her direction, WTO earned a 2009 Grammy nomination for a live audio recording of John Musto's Volpone.

On her blog, she makes opera approachable and fun, while also providing expert insights targeted at both aficionados and newbies alike. Best of all, she offers a behind-the-scenes look at a top-tier training program and an extraordinary group of artists and alumni.
